Michael A. Fiedler, PhD, CRNA Apr 12 Announcements

1) The start of the NBCRNAs CPC program (Continuing Professional Competence) is August 1, 2016. Until that time CE works just like it does now.

2) In August 2016 when new CE regulations go into effect there will be two types of CE credits, "Assessed" CE (Class A) and non-assessed "Professional Development" CE (Class B).

3) Anesthesia Abstracts meets all requirements for Class A CE credits. It also meets Class B CE requirements. You can use Anesthesia Abstracts CE to satisfy either your Class A or Class B requirements.

4) CRNA Webinars will continue to provide Live CE lectures that offer Class A CE credit without a test. CRNA Webinars also meets Class B CE requirements. You can use CRNA Webinars CE to satisfy either your Class A or Class B requirements.

Bottom Line: the NBCRNA says that once you recertify you can start earning CE credits for your NEXT recertification. For example, say your recertification deadline is July 31, 2014. Once you have completed the recertification process before the deadline you can start earning CE for your 2016 recertification.

Here is a quote from the NBCRNA web site: "For example, an individual whose 2014 recertification application is approved on April 18, 2014 may start to earn credits for their 2016 recertification cycle the following day, April 19."

Details are available in this NBCRNA document (page 5): http://www.nbcrna.com/recertification/Documents/20140303%20Criteria...
